I've created a Facebook group for our class. The intent is to facilitate the answering of course related questions, and to makes it easier for you to coordinate and schedule study sessions with each other. I will not be monitoring the discussions or the going ons in the group. Regardless, join up and contribute to the discussions.


For those of you who may still be unsure about your major and are considering Economics, check out the starting salaries and salary distributions recently published in the Wall Street Journal: Degrees that Pay You Back.

Notice that those with a bachelor's degree in Economics have a higher starting median salary ($50.1K) than those from Business School fields, Finance ($47.9K), Marketing ($40.8K), Accounting ($46K), and Business Management ($43K). Also notice that of all the professions, Economists have the 5th highest mid-career median salary. Finally notice, Economist in the 75th and 90th percentile of the income distribution, on average, earn more than anyone else.

Another source stating that the average salary for 2011 graduates was $41.7K, with Economics majors earning an average starting salary of $54.4K - highest among all majors with the exception of Engineering. Source (CNN Money).
